Exploring the Sacred Heritage of Masjid al-Haram
Masjid al-Haram, located in the heart of Makkah, is the holiest mosque in Islam. It’s history dates to the time of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Isma'il (Ishmael), who were divinely instructed to build the Kaaba at this site.
1. Maqam Ibrahim (The Station of Abraham)
Maqam Ibrahim is a sacred site within Masjid al-Haram, housing the footprints of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) standing as a testament to Prophet Ibrahim's role in constructing the Kaaba.
2. Hateem (Semi-Circular Enclosure)
Hateem (Hijr Ismail) is a semi-circular section adjacent to the Kaaba, originally part of the Kaaba's structure, it was left outside during reconstruction. Praying inside the Hateem is considered as praying inside the Kaaba.
3. Black Stone (Al-Hajar al-Aswad)
Set in the eastern corner of Kaaba, the sacred stone was brought down from heavens by angel Jibrael once Kaaba was completed by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). Each round of Tawaf starts/stops at the Black Stone.
Exploring The Sacred Legacy Of Masjid An-nabawi
Masjid An-Nabawi (The Prophet’s Mosque), is the second holiest mosque in Islam. The mosque is located at the heart of Madinah and is a major site of pilgrimage for Muslims.
1. The Resting Place of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)
Located under the iconic Green Dome of Masjid An-Nabawi, is the honoured resting place of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), along with two of his most faithful companions Abu Bakr (RA) & Umar (RA).
2. Saqifah Bani Saidah
Saqifah Bani Saidah is beautiful garden located on the northwestern side of Masjid An-Nabawi. A few elites of the Muslim community met here to decide the first Caliph, marking a pivotal moment in the history of Islam.
3. Al-Baqi Cemetery
It is the oldest and the first Islamic cemetery of Madinah. Adjacent to Masjid An-Nabawi, the Al-Baqi Cemetery is the resting place for numerous companions of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and members of his family.
4. Raudhah
Also known as the "Garden of Paradise," is a blessed area within Masjid An-Nabawi, where prayers indeed hold a special spiritual significance, as indicated by the Prophet (PBUH).
Raudhah timings:
· For Men - The morning session is from 1:00 am until Fajr prayer, and the evening session is from Dhuhr prayer until Isha prayer.
